Topic: Linked fire

I heard linked fire is impossible with the BF2142 engine but cant it be simulated?
Actually only one gun fires while the other one is a dummy. Just add another "beam sprite" or whatever it is right next to the original one and double the damage output if you like (Tie-Fighter).
I am no programmer so it's just an idea.

Isn't the entire point of linked fire to have a wider area of laserfire and more chance of hitting the enemy?  If you just keep the same layout and double the damage output, it's not really accurately simulating that wider arc, which makes it kind of redundant.

linked fire is for causing more damage per shot.

Single fire is for making accuracy by volume.

Well however, it's just for show anyway. If you want the "look" of dual-lasers that might be the workaround. In this case for the Tie-Fighter which usually shoots the lasers in pairs, at a slower rate of fire though.

in the rebel blockade runners you have 2 guns if your a gunner.
pressing left and right (or main and alt fire bottums) at the same time is kinda like linked fire.

Yeah, you're right. wink Also, typically, the rate of fire is slower as a result of linking cannons.

No fire linked cannon's is a bummer because some craft are only able to fire their cannons linked (T.I.E. Fighter, T-47, etc.).
