Jedifire, Bantha, I think you guys are joining servers that aren't running 1.1 so it's a version mismatch...

Anyone know whats up with:

PB:IMPORTANT:RESTRICTION:: Service Communication error - failed to initialize PNKBSTRB.EXE

The only server I found running 1.1 is DSGaming.  There seems to be a steady group of players on it but I keep getting kicked with the above error message...

yes go to punkbuster here http://www.punkbuster.com/index.php?page=dl-bf2142.php download "PBsetup" after you have that installed on your computer go into your 2142 folder and delete the folder "pb" clear your recycle bin restart your computer and install the 2142 patches that should fix it, fixes it for me everytime

Ok, heres what I did:

1. Downloaded PBsetup
2. Deleted PB folder
3. Ran PBsetup and got all the updates
4. Joined the DSgames server and still got booted...

FSDev Woodrow and some other players were disconnected seconds before me so I'm thinking maybe it's a bug?

I'm running the 2142 1.25 update again and I'll do the PBSetup again as well...

Did you restart your computer after you deleted your pb folder? you have to do that

Yeah I did, no go..

I switched back to windows firewall and made sure the exceptions were there..

Ran PBsvc which installed and tested Punk Buster A and B.

I checked Windows Services and Punk Busters A and B were set to Auto start and both were running.

I ran First Strike, played 3 minutes then got the same error and was kicked.

Ran PBsvc again and confirmed that Punkbusters A and B were running.

I restarted First Strike and alt tabbed to services and Punk Buster B was gone - literally not on the list...  Something is making Punkbuster B disappear.

Yarg.

I don't know why PunkBuster B is not only stopping in the Services but it's disappearing all together as though it were never installed.
