A patcher will usually modify the existing files instead of just replacing them. So I dont think you can fool it that way.
I got it working. Just had to create a Mods directory in c:\ with FirstStrike in it. The updater complained, but found the mod and updated successfully.
FWIW, file 27 takes a long time and there was a big delay when it started when it appeared nothing was happening. PERHAPS those reporting issues are not being patient enough?
Also on XP 64 Trying 1 more time, I just been deleting the mod folder but I'll check if you guys made a uninstall .exe I have been restarting/shutting down so far between steps. I'll keep ya posted.
but this method WORKS Uninstall the mod Install mod Make sure you saved the patch.exe Right click the exe, compatability tab, set it to run under Win 95 Patch success!
Nice one, I posted earlier that I had the same problem. Ran the patch in Win 95 mode and it worked fine !!!
So Admin make a note for other people to advise installing in Win95 mode on XP X64.
(thought I'd never be saying thank goodness for Windows 95 !!! )
yeah I forgot the step between "right clicking the exe" and "compatability tab", you have to go to properties on that right click menu! lol, also remember that you're just running the patch process in 95 (sure 98 or 2K would be good too). The game still runs in XP or whatever you have it set to.
