Re: Y wing balance issues

The Y wing is a STRIKE bomber, the B-Wing is a heavy assault/bomber. I have taken plenty of Y-wings out that have full crew, with me in a TIE/In.

Its the skill of you as the pilot and opposing gunner, that decides the outcome. Fly better.

Oh, and you hit F while in the Gunner of the Y-wing to get your ion cannons. smile

Re: Y wing balance issues

I have noticed that most people just wanna fly around and dogfight in space.   I said to the people on a game I was playing to use the bombers to bomb and the fighters to dogfight and i got a big fat F*@K you in responce.

I want to point out that this in a game that requires teamwork to win.  Useing equipment in its proper role (like useing Tie Bombers and Y-Wings to bomb, X-Wings are multi roll, A-Wing and Tie Fighters for dogfighting and keeping bombers off of the cap ships ect.) will only make the game more enjoyable to everybody playing and add to the "Star Wars" experience.   When do you see Y-wings or Tie Bombers dogfighting in the movies?  YOU DON'T

Is there a way to pennalize players for dogfighting in bombers? Or maybe make the blasters in the bombers weak, as to promote bombing instead of dogfighting?  Just a thought.

Re: Y wing balance issues

Y-Wings are multi-purpose fighter/bombers.

They were the rebel's primary fighter before the X-Wing, hence the ability to dogfight as well as bomb.

Just keep that in mind.

Re: Y wing balance issues

B-Wings also have an ion cannon just switch it with F too. Kinda fun to light up a TIE and them wondering wt heck the blue bolts were flying past him. Possible to incorporate the ion cannon sound from Xwing v Tie fighter more? I loved that sound, heck all the cannon fire in that game was awesome.

Re: Y wing balance issues

I think the balance is okay for the moment.

The Imperials, frankly, can be much deadlier than the Rebels if they get a squad of three TIE Interceptors going in tandem.

That's what I love about open-ended space map strategies.  Players on either team always have different tactics and you see new stuff come up every day on the servers, followed the next day by new countermeasures.

Re: Y wing balance issues

Actually, Canadiens I feel that the TIE fighter and TIE Interceptor are just for different engagements (Not correct for lore but who cares? lol)

TIE Fighters I notice do better in close range dog fights, while TIE Interceptors shred at longer distances or shots from obscure angles.

Re: Y wing balance issues

Hey I have a question...Are the TIE Fighter's lasers more powerful than the Intercepter's? I'm kinda comparing it like

X-Wing=TIE Fighter
A-Wing=TIE Intecepter
Y-Wing=TIE Bomber

So I wonder if the TIE Fighter is capable of attacking capital ships like the X-Wing or are the TIE Fighter and TIE Intecepter both fast dogfighters that are useless against Capital ships?
