Re: Music

Thanks alot folks, much appreciated indeed !
The music like every other element of the creation process for the mod has been alot of work and alot of fun.
It's still early days with regards to what the future holds for First Strike, at least from a musical point of view but I'm certainly looking forward to seeing how it might be developed more.
There are still issues surrounding the use of music which need to be discussed more with the team but at least from my point of view a Star Wars experiece without music...well isn't really a Star Wars experience and I'm not talking rock or pop music either ( which I also love ) but it just isn't the musical language that a Star Wars experience deserves in my opinion.
Thanks again and I hope there'll be much more in the future.

P.S. I remember Preacher once mentioning the old 'optimizing your shaders' business, so I hope the looping isn't driving you bonkers man smile

Re: Music

Steb, the man, the myth, the legend!

Keep up the great work. I don't mind the looping at all except for that one song (forget which map) that is only 8 or 16 bars long. I do like it though, and would love to hear that track take off and become a full song.

What DAW and soft synths and/ or hardware do you use (if you don't mind me asking)?

Re: Music

Thanks again smile
It's great to have positive feedback to add more fire to the inspiration this mod gives me.
I think the short piece you mentioned Delta_Fixer is probably the Hoth Space map ( I think )
You're right, it does need extending and that's something I'm working on already.

With regards to gear, I feel like a bit of a fossil compared to most here when it comes to understanding about computers, etc, but.....the software I use to make music for this mod anyway is done with Cubase and the East West Gold ProXP library and I also use East West RA for any ethnic type instrumentation, the type of sounds that might lend themselves well to the likes of Endor and even Tatooine for that matter.
My sound card is an external one ( forgive my bad tech speak ) and is the Edirol UA-700,
which I believe at one point was quite expensive but I got it at a crazy low price from ebay smile
I also use a not very good midi keyboard, it works well enough though, I prefer to 'play in' most things that I record as I think it helps to keep a little of the human character that can often be eliminated through 'syntheticly rendered music'.
Well it's great for me to hear how much people are enjoying this mod so far after seeing all the hard work put into it and it honestly is thrilling to be part of the team and this great community.
Cheers smile

Re: Music

I was impressed on how subtly the motifs were used, and how similar the music was to BF2142's, but with a Star Wars touch.

The EastWest Symphonic libraries sound great! I have the Gold, too, but not the XP add-on (have heard it is fantastic).

Check out Sonar 7 ;-) ... and keep doin' what you're doin'. Its really not so much the gear as it is the person using it.

Re: Music

Devs, keep up the great work! Is the loading map for the Death Star gonna be some sort of Imp March Remix? Or is it still in the classified folder tongue
