Lucas Arts cannot shut you down, (I don't see how that's even possible as you're just a tester), nor can they shut the FS dev team down as I stated in my previous post, no insult intended.

"Galactic Conquest" was not a quote 'mode' it was an excellent MoD for Battlefield 1942 and still is.

Nonetheless Lucas Arts is very quick to inform anyone who tries to infringe on the Star Wars logo, icons, (i.e. Darth Vader etc. etc.) and if their warning is refused you'll find yourself in court and lose to them.

I'm not 100% on what they will allow but I do know about what they get pissy about which is the logo, icons and such.

The dev team can better answer this question than me since they reviewed all the legal aspects I'm sure of.

Ghost. install and play SWBF2 and you see what i mean with galactic conquest mode.
about what i know from lucas arts and rights is that you can use jsut about anything as long as you dont use the names and faces of the charaters in the movies. cept maybe droids because there not names by serial number things

The issues LA had with Galactic Conquest was the following.

1) We had a similar name, as it was 1st called Star Wars Battlefield

2) We had images from the movies in some of our web based art

3) We had character references in the mod, which is copyright infringement.

Basically LA gave us a criteria we had to meet, which was changing the above and the fact that the primary download mirror was Lucasfiles.com.

I think the original issues with LA and Galactic Conquest was also the fact that SWBF1 was a new genre for them to be developing for, therefore, making a mod thats was similar to their 1st genre release, both in content and name, would be messy and confusing.

I personally cant see why LA are doing another SWBF, considering the fact theyve covered both era's now.... unless they have some real groundbreaking gameplay planned.

Wrafe, didn't LA set out the rules for fan made game content because of GC? Or did GC just influence them.

Anyways, they can't do crap as long as we abide by their rules.

well this mod is completely different as their games

- the can use heroes
- they use the force
- they can use an engine from scratch, so they have a real sdk and everything they need (the devs of First Strike need to use their own stuff to make this mod and don't have access to everything in the engine e.g. hardcoded stuff

Any way Lucas art allways license crappy engines to their producctions, that is why a "simple" modification of great engine, like FS, can beat SWBF series.

I total disagree whit lucas arts productions, i r SW fan and their productions make me pain full.
