hi there...I too am having this problem. I found this post that acknowledges a problem with Vista and how it uses memory.....involves downloading c++ visual studio express, installing it, going to Tools within that app, going to Dos from there and running a specific command. If you want to try it, here goes. I applied it but have not yet confirmed if it really works.
I reads as follows:
I will try to remember what I did :-
After downloading and installing Visual C++, I went to Start, All programs, scrolled down to find Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition, Visual Studio Tools, Visual Studio 2005 Command Prompt. Then I applied the fix.
The path to the BF2142.Exe file on my system was :-
cd c:\Program Files (x86) Press Enter
cd Electronic Arts Press Enter
cd Battlefield 2142 Press Enter
Then type in,
editbin.exe /LARGEADDRESSAWARE BF2142.exe Press Enter
Should come up with a Microsoft copyright or trademark thingy. This means success.
I think at some stage I was asked to update the program, which I downloaded and applied. But I think it was actually after the above fix that I applied the update.
Hope this helps, I had another totally crash free BF2142 day yesterday so it thas definitely cured my problem, good luck.
