Topic: Error Caused by First Strike - Playing 2142 Titan Mode.

Ive narrowed the error down to definatly a settings error in First Strike.

The Problem, please watch.

As you can see from the video, upon entering the titan everything goes black.

Here is what ive doen to test this error.

1: Full Complete Registry and all files folders Uninstall of 2142 and all its mods patches and maps.

2: Installed 2142 Basic, no patch - Test on min settings on titan - Test on max settings titan.
3: Installed 1.25 patch, played min and max settings on titan (ranked server)
4: Installed Northern Strike + 1.25 patch again - Played min and max settings (ranked server)
- Still no errors to this point.
5: Installed First Strike MOD - went onto Titan server min + max settings still no error.
6: Installed 1.1 Update - played titan on min and max settings, still no error.

It was at this point i figured the error i had inccured was fixed.

7: Finally got onto a 1.1 First Strike Server and had some games.
8: Jumped out of FS and played some more titan - Or so i tried. - Error back again Black Screen!
9: Figured it might be hiding some cache files or something. Completely removed the file cache and video settings.
10: Opened my account and re configured settings once more.
11: logged back into titan mode - error - still black screen inside the titan.

12: Complete uninstall reinstall from scratch again, following the exact same process.

13: checked titan server was working - it was
14: Logged into First Strike Server immediatly
15: went directly back to titan server on normal 2142 - error black screen.

this issue is definatly pinpointed down to a FS error causing a black screen inside the titan.
Please anyone that can help me would be a great please. I dont want to have to not play First Strike and then not have to uninstall and reinstall everydamn time i do play it.

The black titan is a very known issue in BF2142. Its to do with lighting/lightmaps. I dont see anything in FS that can affect it, unless you change settings between the two (its the lower quality settings that cause it to be black).

I have a system that cost me just over $3200 2months ago.

I dont have those sorts of issues and i can and most often do run everything on max settings.
If it was something that simple i would have discovered it.

I use the same profile for both games - unchanged.

If you like ill post my current user settings.

As i play ladder matches extreame graphics is not needed and can be a hinderence to seing the enmy, so the settings i run are as follows:

Terrain - Medium
Effects - Medium
Geometry - medium
Texture - High
Lighting - Medium
Dynamic Shadows - Low
Dynamic Light - Low
Anti Alias - x4
Texture Filtering - Medium
Distance - 100%

- Ive never incurred this black error inside a titan in the entire time ive owned the game - until the First Strike Installation.

such an expencive system and you cant play matches at high because you can see the enemy that way?
then you my friend have been ripped off.

and if you play matches as you say i cant believe you have only 1 soldier/profile.
back in the days that i played games like that i had atleast 3 profiles.
one for the matches, one for practice (so people wouldnt know it was me) and one for casual fun gaming.
have you tried 2 profiles yet? one for 2142 with all on high and one for your other activities?

OMG - do you even play 2142?

Dynamic Shadows on High with textures and shaders and everything on high - its impossible cause the camo actually does what its says! The players hiding stationary in a corner blend in.

The reason why you dull it down is so the enemy stand out - any movement or someone hiding in a corner isnt hidden by shadow! - granted i use high settings for games, not for ladder matches.

I have 2 accounts reguardless. My origional account and my clan account. Reguardless of this, ladder matches are conquest not titan - so wtf is your spam post got to do with resolving the titan graphical error?
