****checked dxdiag****
relax dudes rmemebr I'm not on your team so there's now way I'll stay up till 3 o'clock in the morning to check my dxdiag... but now that I have time, here it is:

I had the problem and I only know of the following:

bf2142 settings:
at first I thought the freezing problem had to do with the graphics, so I reduced my graphics settings to:

resolution: 800×600@60htz
Anti Aliasing: 4×
further almost everything highest.
sound settings: quality medium @ software

normally it would be:
resolution: 1280×1024@60htz
texture quality highest
texture filtering medium
effects medium
anti-aliasing 2×
shadow quality low
lighting quality low
and the rest medium

sound settings: high @ hardware but with this I had the freezing problem...

Wakain, please provide more info or I will delete your post because we really need to fix the problem and therefore we need to look into the details. Undetailed posts only clutter this thread.

Re: Game freezing problem with looping sound? Please reply here.

I'm really lazy... so instead of making my brain hurt.. how about the relevent info from dxdiag... preceded by my bf settings:

Battlefield 2142 settings:
Res: 1280x1024@60
Graphic settings: 2xAA, Filtering off, Textures, geometry, lighting, effects on high, all else on medium. "that special lighting option" on.
Sound settings: Ultra high, X-fi off.

I usually only freeze up on Endor (which is the map i play the least; i usually stick to space maps), but have frozen up once upon hitting the 'deploy' button on one of the space maps... i forget which
