At blaster point, the Rodian demanded Solo pay his debt to Jabba. Solo claimed he didn't have the money with him. Greedo had lost his patience, and opened fire. His shot missed; it was the last mistake Greedo would make

Oh please that is the revised version. Not really reliable is it, qouting the ones that changed it in the first place.

In original movie Han shot first, but then they released the Special Edition, and they changed it, so in the Special Edition, it's Greedo who shoots first smile

Lucas trying to make Solo more of a "good" guy is one of the biggest piles of rubbish in the series for me.  I dont understand why he decided to change a main characters character so long after the event.  Han Solo the man who supposedly lived by gut instinct and made a living out of shady deals and dodging the law and various criminals waiting for someone else to pull the trigger first?  Not a chance. smile
