Not exactly short, but if i say something, i do it dramatic and from the SW nerd in my heart!
From GC on to now, the team has been able to pull in a large group of people all driven by what they love and what they like to play, Star wars, and create from scratch a modification everyone can enjoy, even those who are unfamiliar with it. First Strike has a great future ahead of it and deserves the recognition by the gaming community. It has proven it's worth and has set down the typical SW atmosphere we remember from the movies, the team has strived to achieve it and has succeeded in their work.
Because i experienced GC from the very start, i was again pulled back when i was informed that the team returned to their roots and original ideas. I was glad when i heard that, from update to update glimpses of what we could be playing after it's release, sitting in mIRC waiting patiently for news, exclusive screenshots, and mini-interviews. Hopes were up for something good, and the mod sure managed to back the words of the developers, claiming it to be a suprising piece of work.
The first round ever, that gave me a good impression of what it was all about, large scale combat, chaos, atmosphere, memories, friendship... And from the dev's point of view, to deliver a fast-paced action game about a galaxy far far away. I've enjoyed the laserbattles in the nights of Entha, the wild dogfights swirling around capital ships, crying out "Rebel scum!" as i unloaded another barrage of laser upon my unsuspecting foe. Taking my squad of hardened stormtroopers as i push back the rebels at Endor with ATST's stomping behind my back, ready to fire. That is what i like, living the movies, enjoying the atmosphere and teambased playing.
All in all, First Strike, a modification, has set down the basis and a idea on which the team can work on, starting a thing like this is hard, but it was done propperly. Sure, it needs work, but the future is promising, the team is determined, the players are awaiting the next releases, and it has proven that the concept of mixing Battlefield with SW works, yet again, creating a unique experience.
In the words of Lord Vader... "Impressive... most impressive."
