Topic: Linux Dedicated no rcon

I've setup First Strike on Linux (Cent OS 5) and have had it running however I don't seem to be able to set the rcon password or port.

I've created a default.cfg in mods/firststrike/settings/admin/, which I thought controlled the rcon port and password, but when I try to connect either by typing rcon login PASSWORD into the console after issuing ./start.sh or by using a remote client I receive rcon: Authentication failed.

As a test I changed the rcon port that's specified in default.cfg from 4711 to 4712 however the server didn't obey this and made the rcon available on port 4711.

Therefore it looks as if it's not reading the default.cfg file but instead looking for the rcon settings elsewhere.

I've also reverted to the stock 2142 install and have the same issue of not being able to set the password.

I've asked on the EA forums to no avail and EA support say that 2142 on Linux is not supported.

I'd appreciate any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong or indeed it would be good to know if anyone has actually got it working on their Linux server.

Thanks

*BUMP!*

Anyone got any info on this?

In addition, Renegade has added that line of code to make the server run with BF2142 v1.4 and it still seems to be coming up as running the older version of the game when you try to connect from the server screen.

Re: Linux Dedicated no rcon

This is what works for me:
/some/where/bf2142/mods/firststrike/settings/admin/default.cfg

port=4711
password=lololol

File is owned by the gameserver user itself and has permissions rw-r--r--

Hope this helps.
