Re: Ex-GC Players - Post your fond memories of GC here!

I remember once being the gunner in a Y-wing on the Death Star; just as we flew down into the trench 2 TIE-fighters flew in from either side behind us. One I managed to shoot down before we pulled up and the other as it was flying around us after we'd turned. That really reminded me of the films and how brilliant GC is big_smile
It's all flooding back now...
Grabbing an R5 droid in Beggar's Canyon and doing laps of the buildings around the flag, while Stormtroopers chase after it taking pot shots around every corner and trying to lob grenades.
Trying to sneak aboard Imperial shuttles, especially the huge one on the Mon Calamari map, and killing the imperials mid-flight.
Driving into the sides of hills as fast as possible in speeders to do flips, usualy failing horribly.
Hiding behind a wall while the AT-AT looms above you blasting the shield generator.
Seeing people shout 'HACKZ0R!11!' at snipers wink
Stealing an Imperial's AT-ST he's just jumped out of to take a flag.
Ramming people's ankles with Mouse droids and beeping like a fool.
Hiding in a side room on Judicator while you watch half a dozen Stormtroopers run down the corridor, away from their fleshly-captured and un-guarded flag.
Getting a lift on top of an A-wing.
Skydiving on Bespin
I could probably think of more, but I digress smile

Re: Ex-GC Players - Post your fond memories of GC here!

Best times are my battles with a AT kit inside a AT-AT on hoth trying to shoot a MF out of the sky, dodging all shot of the ships there.
Or what to think to be a rebel on that map, trying to kill those freaking AT-AT's without ropes.

using speedy vehicles at tatooine and jump over all those dunes, dancing at the cantina.
Ofcourse the speeder race at the bonus race map was also Über.
Mostly just played Hoth, because no one ever played space battles.
Also knowing that what ever server you joined nobody ever destroys the deathstar just to freaking difficult.

being chased by tie interceptors while standing on a wing of the B-wing with 3 others.

beatiful moments got there, now my bf cds are broken (sniff) sad
First Strike will be my come back

I value Speed, Ambition, and Stunts. I love Stunts at any cost,
and am a corrupting influence on those around me. At my best,
I am resourceful and unashamed. At my worst, I am parasitic
and amoral. My symbol is a skull. My enemies are white and green

Re: Ex-GC Players - Post your fond memories of GC here!

Playing on the GCdev Server with Strider and his YETI crew sometimes provided me some unforgettable experiences big_smile

also ofc when i played my first GCCG which was btw #2 (we played Tanaab and i dunno what was the other map), but then we (Rebels) had to storm the testing facility to blow up the experimental TIEs, just by then we tried to rush in, one of my teammates screams: " GRENAAAADE!!" we all run but im the only slowpoke to be killed by it sad

also i really loved killing X- and Y-wings on Deathstar by coming straight from above and them not knowing where the enemy is (esp the Y-wings with gunners inside big_smile)

then again at another GCCG me and i think it was Straider were playing at imps on dantooine, we were ordered to take a DTAP (Dual trooper Assault Platform *i think*) in the start and head for the only bridge the rebels had to cross in order to get to the first flag, we were blazingly fast and dropped mass mines there and got out just in time
NOTE: the mines back there were hardly visible on the bridge, only very well experienced players noticed them resulting in like half of their tanks being destroyed there big_smile

and last one...

once on the DEVserver the imperials set up a incredible defense on the Deathstar, so ALL of the rebels waited together under the landing platform having some fully crewed Y-wings and many X-Wings ready to intercept TIEs, then we got order to launch the attack but it ended in an incredible lagfest (since my comp sucked back there sad ) and i eventually hit the ground of the deathstar due to not being able to maneuver, but again, showed me some incredible teamwork is possible even without a team using TS, just ingame chat organized 16 players

Pounding AT-ATs to dust in an X-wing on Hoth, flying underneath them between their legs like the snowspeeder in the movie.

Blowing up the Death Star (nothing like that feelin'). wink

Blowing up turbolaser emplacements on Lok with an X-wing.

Tanaab. 'Nuff said. AWESOME map! Had a few REALLY close wins (and losses) on this one.

Sneaking behind all the imperial forces on Judicator and capturing the bridge flag first thing, thus catching the imperials in a pincer.

Remember that there are still folks playing this mod out there, people. During weekend evenings you can often find servers with somewhere around 10-14 players on them at least. I personally am never going to give up on good old GC just because First Strike has been released, no matter how good it will be.

IMO, we ought to organize regular GC reunions, say, once a month?

Taking a group out for mountain climbing, ATST bowling (I cant reach those anymore, those were taken by X_Vantage), asteroid camping, pretty much the same memories Straider has. I was wondering if people can start sharing their GC pictures in this thread? I'm collecting them you see. By all means, upload these pictures, i dont want them to get lost forever. With me or others in action, funny shots, i searched the old jolt forum for remaining pictures and i got over a hundred of them stored in a map. If Straider has the comic of me sitting on the asteroid with beer for example, post it.

Re: Ex-GC Players - Post your fond memories of GC here!

ISD Judicator. I loved playing as the Rebels on that map. The one map where you were severely handicapped and you had to rely on your teammates, and at times, yourself, to bring the team to victory. I don't know how many times I was a part of squads who split up to take the Judicator's bridge, and then be able to hold it and win the game.

That map rocked until the patch where the rebels had to take another outpost if they had Judicator's bridge.

That map was great with the E-11 and A295. I learned how to snipe with the rifles because of that map big_smile.
