Re: Episodes 1-3

LOTR has influenced a lot of things since it was created. im not suprised if star wars has some of the ideas from it.

Episode IV ain't LOTR, it's a western set in space.

Re: Episodes 1-3

If you want a western set in space, watch Firefly.

Star Wars is more of a romantic battle set in the depths of the galaxy as two clearly defined sides of Good and Evil fight it out for supremacy.  The rebels always containing 1/3 the size of the enemy at any battle fight against all odds to try and overthrow an Emperor with the ability to corrupt and destroy planets.

That's why I love Star Wars, it's just got two clearly defined ideas, and a WHOLE ton of fluff.

Comon men. There's a whole bunch of them right at the top of that hill waiting for you to shoot at them. So forward and up boys! Let's get this done.

I was referring to ANH employing a lot of plot devices and borrowing heavily from western films.  Now that I think about it, ANH is a bit western, a bit adventure, and ends as a WWII movie.  Good stuff.

Well when MF escapes the DS, the scene where TIEs chasing the MF is literary taken, scene by scene, by a war film, don't remember which one

but they showed it once in a documentary and they are exact copies, they just changed background, weaponary and of course the vehicles

Re: Episodes 1-3

Yeah I remember hearing that.  When they were doing the preliminary planning for the Battle of Yavin sequences, they actually spliced together footage of old WWII fighter plane movies to plan out how they would have ship movements and certain shots pan out.
