I run out of ammo all the time. I don't see how finding myself in a target-rich environment and staying alive while firing my weapon at enemies means I have an IQ below room temperature, though. At Mos Espa, it's the norm for me to run out of ammo for both my main blaster and pistol when 'manning the walls' against plentiful Imperials trying to make the city.
I would say look into implementing the supply crates again for the officers. If it were spawnable on a timer and when you deploy one it kills the previous. Its stationary does the same thing as ammo and bacta drops, but you can’t take it with you and drop it any time you like a big tactical difference.
Pray tell, who would be dropping these crates? Were there Rebel cargo ships flying around over Hoth during the battle, ready to resupply the ground troops? Or over Endor?
They simply do not fit in. I'm all for deployable cargo crates, but dropping them from the air or spawning them out of nowhere just doesn't make sense to me. Implementing some sort of large ground vehicle that could deploy them would work for me, though.
Likewise with the UAV and orbital bombardment. They'd just deviate from lore way too much.
As for a probot, I don't see them as combat droids. They've got scanners and cameras and lots of little arms, presumably for taking various tests and manipulate small objects, and at least some of them can blow themselves up, but they're unsuited for combat. Hence, I don't feel like putting more of them in the game. The Empire is a military galaxy-wide superpower, surely they must have droids designed for the battlefield.
