Re: Dead? hamsters I hope not...

Hey Safe-Keeper,

If I played that game I would be very excited about your mod, as my dad is full blooded (100%) Norwegian!

I think I agree with Manik.  Small, frequent map updates (map packs of 3 maps or so each time?)  Then do the big featured ones less often with the major maps and new statics, vehicles, etc.  The nice thing about releasing the map packs frequently is people will have more maps to keep them interested, plus you get the extra publicity from the releases.

Re: Dead? hamsters I hope not...

Yup, if you could throw out a few maps that always tends to generate interest.

Also, I've never played a SW game before and I really enjoy this mod.

I have posted on EA 2142 forums in the last couple of weeks about this mod in an effort to generate some interest.

The infantry maps are good and I love flying. It never gets old when you go head to head against good pilots.

Stats are a part of BF and not FS. I'm glad FS doesn't have them.

Re: Dead? hamsters I hope not...

I would prefer multiple updates in the future so that we feel like things can be fixed/ changed if needed. And the small handful of maps per update is a good idea. Knowing that things are goig to get better in the future keep me excited.

Re: Dead? hamsters I hope not...

Its a nice thought, though going through the process of asking people what they like, drawing up plans,
creating new textures and new small maps all together will prove to be a timerobbing job, time that could be put into the larger and more important maps that do get the publics attention. But, like pretty much everyone else i have no idea how much is planned and how long the team is willing to create new builds and such.

What i'm saying, you can release small maps, but they do have to be worth the effort, with a lot of variety in locations and objectives and the fun factor being there.

And it looks like R2 is still a few months away, i wonder how things have changed by then.

How much time does it take to create a map that has the size and detail of Mos Entha?

Re: Dead? hamsters I hope not...

I have an idea...This is a very big month for PC gaming with the Orange Box and everything. Once all the calms down, I think more people will return to this mod. Created this account just for this post btw.....

Re: Dead? hamsters I hope not...

You may also want to consider timing.
Right now you are competing with ET:QW, the COD4 demo has just been released, the Crysis beta is ongoing, Halo 3 is out and the Half-life guys have released The Orange Box.

Re: Dead? hamsters I hope not...

Besides, people would play these maps conintuously since release... I swear over a year has been devoted to this game already and its only got 5 maps!!!!

I'm glad that the servers are going down, their were too many to begin with and not enough players. People are being smart and seeing that their 16 slot or 32 slot server was seeing no action so they saved money.

The more depressing issue is that I rarely see more than 100 people playing at a time, but really this is a relative issue... 100 people? Thats pretty good for a first release mod of an already addicting game!

I think the release was prolcaimed as an open demo of sorts. I honestly, believe that expecially with the meat of the game (epic maps like Hoth, Redone Endor, Death Star Trench Run, this every present specter of an Space Station map, and perhaps a judicator map) are a horizon away and will be when we see the BAM popularity.

I know that when I get the chance I will devote a weekend to figuring out how to make maps and will experiment a bit with what makes a FS map interesting (apart from being lore accurate). Hopefully I can contribute to this great mod in the only way I can.
