the officer should be able to call in bombing runs. either like the aerial bombardmenor actually send a message to a bomber on the map. that would be great if you could point to a place and the bomber would try to hit it.

its in empire at war i think

I dont think thats possible, i'm pretty sure they tried something like that and it didnt work since its bf2142, but i'm realy not sure, i didnt look too closely, might be something different.  Anyway, dont you people agree that the officer should be alittle stronger then the other classes since theres only one for squad? and you dont have to worry about everyone making themselves a squad just so they can be a squad leader because they cant use the really good stuff without squad members.

Re: Officer with probe droid

i did add a smiley, a winking smiley. it denoted sarcasm, or it was intended too.

If i didn't care, i wouldn't be reading the thread would i? wink

I don't want to sound pompous but in over 4 nearly 5 years of developing mods/games, one thing i have come to realise that i seem to grasp better than alot of people i speak to is gameplay.

it's not arrogance, it's just something i've come to realise based on experience. Which is why it takes a Very well put together argument for me to agree with someone else who has had all of a couple weeks at most to digest the whole new FS experience.

which is also why alot of people leave. As someone said in teh Is FS dead thread.

People don't want a 2142 re-skin, yet when they GET a game completely different to 2142, they suddenly wish it WAS a 2142 re-skin, and end up in a deadly circle.

thats why people leave, cos they have knee jerk reactions to things and kids today have so short attention spans you'd think they were all ADHD sufferers, they don't have time or patience to learn it all.

you have to remember we've been playing and testing the game for MONTHS and months, 2 weeks in my eyes you see is still in the realm of knee jerk you don't fully understand.

at worst on our part it shows a lack of intuitiveness or increase in depth whichever way you want to write it.

Re: Officer with probe droid

Are you sure, so what is it a ground vehicle that can be deployed or one that is already spawned in game? They already have ground vehicles “deployed” in game. What do you want something that works like the AT-ATs in Battlefront?

I want a ground vehicle that deploys ammo crates. Get in the vehicle, drive to where an ammo crate is needed, and drop it off by hitting primary or secondary fire. Like the trucks in Forgotten Hope, which could also deploy machine guns. That mod and Ground Control got me hooked on deployable stuff tongue .

That thing would get driven up to the frontlines in a pub. People would be like "lol wtf where's my weapons!?!"

Well "The_Preacher" I might be a crazed psychotic, but I don’t have ADHD, not a little kid, and I still don’t agree with you. Instead of actually looking at what people suggest good or bad you still take the route of “oh you just don’t understand” or “it’s a knee jerk reaction.” My knee jerk reaction was it’s a Battlefront port to Battlefield and not a Star Wars mod for Battlefield, so my opinion has little to do with that at this point.

To get a well put together argument against something first you have to make a well put together idea to argue against. And your own justifications fall kind of short of that. Sometimes people can disagree with you and not have ADHD or be counterintuitive. However, I can see how labeling critics as that can be self reinforcing.

There are lots of good suggestions and observations in that FS dead thread you mentioned, so maybe you should listen instead of constantly telling yourself “they just don’t understand.” No offence, but the “you just don’t understand response” doesn’t work for teenagers and it doesn’t work for game design either.

So great the current official response to criticism and suggestion is “we’re doing it so we must know what we’re doing” followed by “you just don’t understand” and last but not least “people that don’t agree must have ADHD.”

A better response would be “we aren’t really open to criticism and suggestion, because we just want to make the mod that we want to make and if you don’t like it tough.” I didn’t see that mentioned anywhere and if I had myself nor anyone else would have ever bothered to say anything. With this in mind what else is there to say?

There is a difference between being important and being a pompous little brat.

While I don't travel out to the country that much (not a country kinda person), it is nice out there.

And I know someone's gonna ask, yes I have seen Dog Chapman.

*Gasp* That's one of the meanest things you can say to a dev! (at least imo, battlefront was a big bunch of fail)

A lot of suggestions on this forum are not only listened to, many are implemented. (Like scoreboard class icons *wink wink* tongue )

Anyway, they said that in later releases they will introduce changes to the officer class, so don't get all down on it yet.

Also, I get the feeling that your view of the an officer class is similar to the artillary class (can't remember the exact name) from ET:QW (which I hate). I mean, they already said there will be no orbital strike-type attacks in this game (that's the kinda feeling I got anyway, I don't really care one way or another), so what else would a officer do other then UAV, beacon and turret deployment? They'd be generic UAV soldiers with order setting capabilites.

Re: Officer with probe droid

i would prefer the officers weapon was more like the medics. They are both really support troops but can fight if they need too. At the moment the officer has not much chance against another class.
