Topic: Performance Issues

Well, I've been looking forward to this mod for a long time, just to join in and slow down. I have a gig of memory, a 2.6ghz P4, and an AGP GeForce 6800GT (that's forced to run at 4x because of my damned mobo.) What are some things that I can do to improve performance, besides the obvious upgrades (which I'm saving up for)? For other games, tweaking nTune's settings helped, but I'm unsure of what would be best for this game.

vista or xp?
cause for vista to do anything right you need 2 gn ram.
seeing as you use ntune i dont have to tell you to install the latest drivers.
i havent played around with the nprofile settings yet, but i think preacher has.
but i think most of the basic setting changes to increase preformance with other games should work on FS aswell. in and out game. aslong as you keep view distance ingame at 100%

Hi, I am running FS on GeForce 6800GT as well at mo, although mines on PCI-E. I found turning off Shadows and lighting effects gave best increase in performance. Also, 1 Gb of ram is not really enough for vanilla BF2142 (or BF2). I would recommend 2Gb, I saw a vast improvement in my system when I made this upgrade when running BF2142, quicker starting, less or no interruptions when playing. BF2142 runs in approx 900Mb, which only means 100Mb left for OS and anti-virus/spyware stuff.

You could trying configuring OS to not run services like Workstation, Server, Themes, wireless zero config (provided you are not using wireless to connect to the internet) and maybe even think of closing down ant-virus / spyware as theoretically, as long as you do not have a web browser / mail client open, these programs are not really doing a great deal. This is of course at your own risk tongue

Yeah, I've been meaning to upgrade my RAM for some time now. What I'm planning on doing is first get a new power supply, then a new motherboard (It'd be nice to be able to run my 6800 at 8x instead of 4x...,) and then another gig of RAM (which, cause I have only two slots I'd actually need to but 2 gigs =/

bullplop i say. i have only 1 gig of ram and it runs fine. i have the settings pretty high too. I can play oblivion at full aswell. My graphics card is ati x600. oh any my cpu is dual core 2.8 GHz.
