Topic: Custom Texture for one map?

Mappers, HELP>>>>>

LOL,

I have a custom detail texture I want to use for a FS map I am working.  I have it in the map folder, but in the editor you see the texture, but in the packaged map folder for testing you see the silly cartoon darth vader graphic instead.

I know it's possible to do a custom texture for a map and add it to the level folder, but where and how do you structure the folders that hold the texture?

I am gonna do this sooner or later also..
As far as i remember for now - You open the init.con inside your-secret-map folder.:D


And scrool down to the sufix line - where the two "" is.. This is where you add your initials.. Like Bloedig_Vader - You add "BD"

So what the engine now does when the map is loading - Is to check if there is any Initials written in the sufix line by some mad mapper..
And if it sees your BD initials...then you will need to have that texture picture_BD.dds in your map folder also...
But make sure that the whole path from the original First Strike Object -> towards your texture is intact inside your folder...

I think thats how it works.. This is what i remember..

Does this work for a ground texture?   The detail texture I am using is for the ground and is not part of First Strike.

Custom ground textures need to go in firststrike/common/terrain/textures

What Thomazz is talking about is custom textures for soldiers, vehicles, weapons etc...it wont work on statics to  my knowledge.

Thanks Blitz,

I figured it would work fine doing it that way, but I was thinking there was a way to do it without changing the .zip in the mod itself.  I have to go in each time and add to the .zip and then take the .dds back out of the .zip each time (if I want to play on line).  Otherwise I get kicked cause the version is different than what the servers have.
