Guys, the turning circle debate is somethnig we've been having pre release for a few months. Unfortunatly theres no way of modding this in due to engine limitations. If you consider all of the vehicles in bf2/bf2142, the faster you go = tighter turning circle. There isn't an opposite, and we haven't been able to produce a slow speed = tighter turning circle.

The endless spinning is mainly due to either:

1. You've fired too early and let the enemy know he's behind you, in which case its your own fault.
2. You fired and missed your target, thats poor aim on your end.

Hint. The enemy is going to spin around for another 10/15 seconds. Simply accelerate away from your target and do a 180 spin and try firing at him again.

On a pro server, the spinning is reduced massively because spinning is a piss poor tactic. Anyone who spins near me dies in the next 20 seconds as I simply boost away from him, and circle around and fire another (accurate) burst at him.

and what if your on the imp's side? no boost... you gotta rely on your teammates then (which is probably the same as getting killed anyways)

or you can try to get close to a cap ship of yours, do some insane maneuvers and hope he crashes into your capship big_smile

I think that the speed vs turning radious would greatly improve space combat. I play Falcon 4.0, the F-16 Flight Sim, and it is amazing; it takes skill to play.

Anyway, if it doesnt happen, I have always found ways to avoid a turning fight, and here's my procedure...

If I feel like I am being sucked into a loop-dee-loop fight, I break of and fly vertical while boosting (or not) and turn around 180 degrees and fight the fighter head on...or just blow it away while they are thinking they are still chasing me...this is what goes through my mind when I see my victim looping idiotically...

"Keep going! You're gonna get me soon! Almost there! SO CLOSE! Keep going! GO ON! AWWW! SO CLOSE!"

Yeah...I win...

Bring on the asteroids!
I value skill above all other qualities in a dogfight. No matter how good the opposing fighter is, if you are more skilled you can take it down no problem.
