k one more thing and its worse than 2142 is that losing connection to server. i have a fairly decent cable connection, and have my services tweaked to where they are disabled manual or automatic. is there something i can do to make this work better?

that error message is returned whenever the server crashes, thats the main problem the mod got and it will hopefully be fixed soon -.-

For single player, you will need the single player mini-mod.
