I'd actually like a system in which ejected pilots could eject, for then to hang suspended in space unti recovered (done by hitting 'e' near a transport such as a lambda class shuttle come to recover you). I think this would mean the pilot would have to be unarmed, though, and you would possibly have to attach floaters to the player model, which would make walking around in the hangar bay before boarding a fighter really strange.

Hmmm i never did hear anything about it...but it would be cool, but sadly..you could wait forever to be pick up, worse..you will be sitting duck for those TIE...

So the ejected pilot eject from the ejection pod? tongue

I dont think it would work very well though. In the time it takes for a Lambda to get out and get people, 90% of the pilots on the map would be floating around in space while the remaining 10% are stuck in an eternal loop trying to outloop each other.

No, I mean eject like pilots in Vanilla eject (my mistake, it's been corrected tongue ). You just float there in mid-space with an oxygen mask and force field around you (or a space suit, for the Imp pilots), like in X-Wing Alliance. Illustration big_smile :

But yes, you'd need some sort of Pilot Rescue point system for people to bother doing it. However, I think that with the speed of the fighters and the small size of the ejected pilot, it'd actually be quite difficult to spot and strafe you (except, of course, by slowing down).

More on-topic, I think such a map would be great. We already have freighters, cap ships and containers that can work as objectives, as well as several space craft. All that would be needed would be the space station (shipyard or repair yard) itself.

Hmmm yea, a shipyard with some battleship around it, throw in some ship, and boom! you got one heck of a space battle.
