Topic: Sky Problem in map

Not sure what I'm doing wrong so if anyone can help I'd appreciate it.

I have tried copiying a sky.com file from more than one map and it doesn't show up in the editor. For example; if I copy the sky.con from Tatooine Mosespa and put it in my level map and I open the BF editor, I get just a grey screen when in Objects. When I try to save it is referencing
ww_63_m_l_lod. The sky remains black at all times. Hmmm...

Thanks

Re: Sky Problem in map

You need to copy the sky files , ie. sky texture , over aswel

You need to be in the level editor to see your map

Re: Sky Problem in map

Make sure you extracted your common folder in the BF2 mod.  If you didn't your sky will not show up.

Re: Sky Problem in map

Thanks! I'll get right on it

Edit: Ooopsie. I copied the sky texture files from FS and put them into my map Objects file. Is that the correct location? There are client and server files for sky, I only need the client?

Do I need to create a Common folder for my map? Sorry I searched BF2Editor forums and did't see the mistake I'm making.

Thanks

Re: Sky Problem in map

Between bfeditor.org, here and my own trial and error I've been able to get up and running mapping for FS however I still cannot for the life of me get the sky to showup in the editor.  Its not for lack of trying.

What exactly do I need to unzip and place to get this working?  I see the common_client and common_server zip files in the Battlefield 2/mods/FirstStrike directory but I don't know what, if anything, to do with them.

Re: Sky Problem in map

Skies should be unzipped in mods/FirstStrike/common/ (/textures/sky/skyname.dds)

As a note, the file directory is already there, you just need to extract the files while removing _server and _client. For the common zips: mods/FS/common_client and mods/FS/common_server goes into mods/FS/common/
