Re: Is it ALWAYS a good idea to keep freighters and cap ships together?

I'm not sure about that.  During the early game on maps like Taloraan, the sides are pretty even, but when both teams have maybe a transport left, the Rebels have the upper hand since all their craft carry torpedos.

The A-wings' don't carry torpedos.
But, in my experience TIE's usually have the upper hand against X-wings' because of their design--the nose sticks out so its easier to use as a guide when leading.  TIE's are faster than all fighters except the A-wing.

BUt none of them can beat a turret on a ship.

I like saftey in numbers but one major problem exists with it.'

A. Easier to hit them as they are trying hard to stick together
B. They tend to have glaring blind spots on the sides which can be exploited VERY easily by an organized team
C. They think just because they are grouped together they are 'invincible' and play sloppily.

Their is one thing that will ALWAYS spell disaster for the attacking fleet... getting too close to the fighter's spawn. I find that the team that crosses the 'middle point' on Taloraan will be the one that always loses.

I would know this because I was on one such over organized team (a neb pilot) until the seemingly unorganized Empire kicked our collective butts by keeping one ship on the far side of the map for the fighters to kill us.

Offtopic: I think the Carrack Cruiser needs more freedom with its camera. I mean the Neb pilot gets about 250 degrees of rotation while the Carrack is FORCED to always look foreward which is horrible since the pilot can't see where he should be going.

Now also are their any critical points on ships smile ?

Which is fine IMO... you do not want a gallofree to be killed by only 50 well aimed missiles on Hoth. I just want to be sure.
