Obvious only to those players who have tried it after the JTL expansion and CU. If you go back and actually READ my whole post, you'll see I haven't been in SWG since 2003 which is before the JTL expansion, thank you, that's all.

not really I only played in the days of pre-cu soo how do I know this you ask? simple, because of all the people who have played during that time when the nge came like 90% of them will tell you

I still play SWG.  I started shortly before the CU in Dec. 2004. 
There are alot of things i missed from the pre cu days.  But if you give it some time, get into a good guild on a decently populated server, the game is still alot of fun.    PVP can get quite intensive at times.
The one thing they havent nerfed all to hell yet is space.  It is still the same JTL experience from when I started.
To tell the truth, since they brought in a new dev team, they have recovered alright from the pile of crap that was the NGE.

Now don't get me wrong, it is no longer the same game as back in the day.  But it still has good points.  And my biggest reason for playing is the guild im in.  These folkes are probably THE best group of people i have played ANY game with.
Anyway...that's just my $0.02

the swgemu project does have an emulator going, but it's far from finished, swganh and swgprecu are much closer to being finished, with more stable server software and i say that from experience, I tested all 3 not long ago, and I have to say as of right now i like swganh the best. also swganh even have dev/mod tools in the works, which will make things like Outer Heaven possible.
