Topic: Importing 16bit RAW to Terragen?

I've come to pick some more brains. tongue

For any of you guys that use Terragen...

There have been instances where I've needed to make further modifications to a terrain (created in World Machine and color/detailmapped in Terragen) in the BF2 editor.  Sometimes these modifications can be substantial.  Rather than repainting the modified terrain by hand is it possible to get a 16bit RAW heightmap back into Terragen?

So far I've been able to convert the 16bit RAW to 8bit in Photoshop and then import it into Terragen.  The problem is that by doing so I lose a great deal of precision in the heightmap.  So that when I transfer it back into 16bit raw its got a bunch of artifacts.

The only other import options that Terragen allows, other than RAW 8bit, are 8/16 bit .SGI or uncompressed .TGA images.  I guess I could try converting the 16 bit raw into a 16 bit image.  Then import it into Terragen?  I just want to make sure that whatever I do I don't lose any precision in the heightmap.

Right now I'm using the unregistered version of Terragen 0.9.  I would post this in the Terragen forums but its taking forever for my registration e-mail verification to get to me.
