...i wonder, is it possible (im not saying, "DO IT!" im just saying, is it possible?) to find the lines of code in BF1942 allowing you to walk in fast moving objects and transfer it over to the 2142 code?
BF2 and BF2142 use a completely different game engine then BF1942. Just because something worked in BF1942 does not mean it will work in BF2142 or BF2.
But moving around in vehicles in BF1942 that moved any faster then very slow was still problematic. Moving around on the hovercraft in DCX while it was moving usually resulted in the player getting thrown off. Try moving around on the GC M.F. while it was flying and the player could get popped outside. Even moving around on a GC capital ship while it was moving at full speed could result in the player getting stuck in a bulkhead.
But, with BF2 and BF2142 the problems are even worse. DICE had to lock down the slow moving Titans in a patch to make sure they could not move before it was boarded.
But the problem has more to do with limitation of any game in trying to keep a free moving player's location in synch with a moving vehicle across the internet. No matter how fast the server or your computer is, your stuck with the slower speed of the internet connection. That internet lag is why moving around on vehicles that are not stationary is not a good idea, unless the vehicle is moving very slowly.
The work arounds would be to make boardable ships on the map disabled or to prevent boarding a ship until it is disabled. But first the team would have to create the ship interiors.
