Re: FIRST STRIKE WIKI

I'm not into wiki editing stuff but you guys should add a page that lists all developers that ever worked on FS what they did.

Re: FIRST STRIKE WIKI

OK, so to bring everyone up to date on the guides, we now have three guides from me and JaFaR, and, in the last one's case, some other forum-goers: Formations, Dogfighting Tactics, and Unit Composition. I took the liberty of creating a subcategory of Guides called Advanced Guides for these articles, as they require some FS experience to delve into and can quite frankly be a bit intimidating at first glance. We also have two more basic articles, the one on piloting a bomber and the one on getting into the AT-AT on Endor Strike Team.

We still need graphics for the Dogfighting Tactics and Formations articles, as they are quite technical and having things 'spelled out for you' in the form of diagrams like the placeholders in the Formations thread would be really helpful. So if anyone wants to spend some time making graphics with X-Wing and TIE Fighter icons, I'd be more than grateful.

Re: FIRST STRIKE WIKI

Could somebody turn this big, scary chunk of code I somehow made into an infobox, or tell me how to do so?

{| align="center"
|<big>'''Assets fielded'''</big>
|}
{| align="center" width=350 border="1" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="1" align="center"
!align="left" style="background:darkblue;"|'''Imperial Vehicles'''
!align="left" style="background:darkblue;"|'''Alliance Vehicles
|-
| [[Sorosuub X-34 Land Speeder]]
| [[AT-ST]]
|-
| [[Armored Land Speeder]]
| [[74-Z Speeder Bike]] <small>(64 only)</small>
|}
{| align="center"
|'''Classes:''' [[Trooper]], [[Heavy Weapons Specialist]], [[Medic]], [[Support]], and [[Officer]].
|}

Result:

Centered right below battle briefing. Someone might have issues with the table formatting, in which case I'll agree with them. Also, I want 'Assets fielded' replaced by that technical word, but I've forgotten what it is (something like 'Order of Battle' or 'Battle Order').

I think this'd be nice to have in the map articles, to give players an idea at a glance of what to expect. Each article should feature the map's minimap as well.

Re: FIRST STRIKE WIKI

Sorry guys for my leave lately. Been a bit busy in life, and quite frankly, I was getting tired of playing FirstStrike with 10 FPS gameplay speed. That should be fixed once my new video card setup arrives; then I'll be back playing and taking pictures for the Wiki, perhaps I can help with Guide images later.

Not a problem, it's a great idea to summarize what vehicle warfare to expect.

But you're right "Order of Battle" is not the right term. It does comes close in a broad definition, "Order of Battle is an organizational tool used by military intelligence to list and analyze enemy military units" - but that's supposed to include Logistics, Training, Tactics, etc. Also, many gamers won't know what we're talking about, so I suggest we choose something more specific to vehicles... hmm...

But you're right "Order of Battle" is not the right term, though I don't believe there's any phrase specific to vehicle unit organization.

Actually, I looked it up, and Order of Battle is also used by historians analyzing events when they try to list what both sides fielded. So it's the term I'll be using. However, it's a free wiki, so feel free to edit it if you want.

Did you do it shadow? If not, I'll tinker with the code tomorrow...

I would be willing to help with this, though I don't really know much formations, etc.
