Re: Another map idea

I seem to recall the devs saying it is possible for a Star Destroyer to move, but that it causes some significant problems when the thing hits something (I can imagine it'll start jumping up and down, for example, which will look really silly).

You could, of course, make it so that every ship only could travel on the x plane, as you said, that is, not change their altitude, so that they couldn't run into the thing, but but I think that'd diminish the fun of them. It would be fun to make hit-and-run attacks on a fully armed, moving Star Destroyer with a group of Corvettes, though, even with the reduced mobility... I admit that.

Have you guy figured out how to work the 4x map size?

Far as I know, both the space maps are 8x8 km already.

And I think they can make them bigger.... Not totally sure about it though.

Re: Another map idea

AI controlled guns on static cap ships are fine... but they should never re-spawn like they do on Escape from Hoth.  This is a fleet battle, and those guns shouldn't re-spawn as much as a cruiser shouldn't re-spawn on Battle o' Talloran.

Maybe, as you'd probably have the DSII part of the skybox to one side, you could make the SSD part of the skybox 'floor'.  You could have random shots fly up from it like the Ion Cannon does on EfH -- no, you couldn't shoot those guns, but let's be honest: nobody's ever going to take out all the guns on an SSD. smile

Today's spelling/grammar tip: There = a (sometimes conceptual) place. "There is my car." or "There is such a thing as magic."  // Their = posessive. "Their meat is full of worms." // They're = contraction of <they are>. "They're crazy!" // "They're trying to put their shoes up there."

Thats a great idea.

Re: Another map idea

doesn't really give much freedom though.

can you imagine in 10 years or more, when actual battles will be able to be simulated.
