Problem with the Encounter is, the map is huge, the capture radii are huge, and the number of players on the server is (usually) tiny.
But yes, I do agree that most maps are somewhat non-teamwork-centric. The thing is, BF2142 squished the number of available kits down by adding these 'unlock' things. Looking at Vanilla, the Assault class is both the medic and the frontliner, depending on what equipment they grabbed.
Here, though, we have a diverse number of weapons, but no other customizable equipment. We also don't have a Commander, so our options are thin. A squad needs (or might need) a defib, a bacta canister, an ammo pack, an area scan, a shield, a repair tool, a stationary gun, several different grenade types, etc. We can't call in a supply drop or UAV, and we can't customize equipment, so the basic classes have to do everything at all times.
I agree that we're over-armed right now. Hopefully, the Customization system isn't at its max right now - Vanilla has 3 potential weapons and four potential support items, and we're only using the weapon slots ATM. Assuming (and it's a big assumption, I admit) that the same methods can be used on the support items as were used on the weapons, we can still have customization. Make that Trooper pick between his scanner or his grenade, or force that Squad leader to take only 2 of the Bacta, Ammo, Blaster Cannon, or Scanner. THEN we'd have some more reliance on teamwork.
If this is a signature... why doesn't the bank accept it on cheques?
