Re: New Classes/Weapons

Problem with the Encounter is, the map is huge, the capture radii are huge, and the number of players on the server is (usually) tiny.

But yes, I do agree that most maps are somewhat non-teamwork-centric. The thing is, BF2142 squished the number of available kits down by adding these 'unlock' things. Looking at Vanilla, the Assault class is both the medic and the frontliner, depending on what equipment they grabbed.

Here, though, we have a diverse number of weapons, but no other customizable equipment. We also don't have a Commander, so our options are thin. A squad needs (or might need) a defib, a bacta canister, an ammo pack, an area scan, a shield, a repair tool, a stationary gun, several different grenade types, etc. We can't call in a supply drop or UAV, and we can't customize equipment, so the basic classes have to do everything at all times.

I agree that we're over-armed right now. Hopefully, the Customization system isn't at its max right now - Vanilla has 3 potential weapons and four potential support items, and we're only using the weapon slots ATM. Assuming (and it's a big assumption, I admit) that the same methods can be used on the support items as were used on the weapons, we can still have customization. Make that Trooper pick between his scanner or his grenade, or force that Squad leader to take only 2 of the Bacta, Ammo, Blaster Cannon, or Scanner. THEN we'd have some more reliance on teamwork.

If this is a signature... why doesn't the bank accept it on cheques?

Re: New Classes/Weapons

Espa is a push map. And Entha requires teamwork in the form of control point defense. If everyone just run from newly captured control points, it just becomes a game of whack-a-mole. Essentially 30 minutes of 'Shuttle crash site secured, on to the warehouse! Oh, damn, they took the shuttle crash site, get back there, oh ****, the enemy has taken both the warehouse and corvette back, let's show them! etc. etc. etc.'. Which is the main reason why I dislike Mos Entha.

And yes, I agree with Ty, this mod needs more teamwork. I fear we need to simply force it on players more, by limiting equipment and such to people in squads, near their squad members, and so on.

But just to clear this up.

There will be no pick up kits/weapons unless it is a deployable "something" from another class which can be picked up again like the sheilds.

There will be no jetpacks either, just because.

So stop asking for it or suggesting it...

Re: New Classes/Weapons

maybe you get a special kit of each weapon, based around the classes we already have. But the sniper has little use of the radar things and a assault trooper doesn't need binoculars.

what do people think of merging the medic and support and creating a demolitions class which would destroy vehicle and set up defences.
