1. Doesn't to add to gameplay
2. Attracts the wrong types of players imo
3. More work for such little payoff
4. Increases amount of bunny hopping players just trying to knife people to get their 'dogtags'
5. Doesn't support teamwork
6. Encourages lone-wolfing

Everyone keeps acting like if it attracts people, it's automatically good! Attracting noobs is NOT good!!!
They screw up the game experience and make it a drag to play! On top of that they start signing up on the forums and posting stupid topics! We don't want noobs! We want to AVOID noobs!

You answered your question right there.  Right now knives are used when they are NECESARRY, not because someone wants to get someone elses tags for a bragging right.  That simple change will add a huge focus on knifing that was not already there.

I never been in a situation where using my knife was necessary - i use it for fun, a rush and humiliation

Tags would attract more players, thats for sure (be it good players or tards) - and id rather stab 10000 n00bs in game than just play with a 10 man community who thinks: "z0mG were so 1337!"

Once you start with awards and all that crap (even a knife badge ?!!) you might as well go all the way and include tags.
Personally i preferred the unranked system with no awards at all cause it makes me play a lot more relaxed. I can get my knife-fix anytime in vanilla if i feel the urge to...
