Re: Ranking. It's cool and all that but...

I guess are kinda right about that, except that the other badges aren't ones that would require you to try to be able to get them. Its easy to just play support, do your job, and get the badge. However, your not just gonna happen to kill like 5 people with the knife in one life, you have to TRY. Which means people will be running around with knives trying to get the badge.

Re: Ranking. It's cool and all that but...

Whats the difference between that and like 20 people grabbing disentigrators and trying to snipe people from hidden spots just to get the badge, or all using small arms to get the small arms badge, or all spamming mines and bombs just to get the demolitions badge? There really is no difference, a gun is a gun, a knife is a knife, etc. They all have awards, so to complain about one of them is to complain about all of them. tongue

And the odds of the entire team coincidentally wanting the same badge at the same time is?

The difference is that as a sniper or tank hunter or mortarman or stormtrooper or mine-layer or whatever, you're actually useful to your team. You can do a good deal of damage if you stick with your squad with your torpedo launcher or land mines, taking out enemy tanks, or if you and a bunch of your buddies form a sniper/spotter fireteam that decimates enemy infantry and points out targets for friendlies. Running around with a knife, though, is just a very good way of getting yourself killed. This is a mod simulating futuristic combat, in which meele weapons are next to completely useless.

If the knife is used right, it can be a lifesaver.
#1: If you run out of ammo, then it really helps.
#2: If you don't want to instantly get spotted, you can use a knife instead of the gun that will reveal you.
#3: It is better than a gun at close range. One-Hit-Kill.

Exactly my point, but more clearly elaborated than what I said...

I agree that people running all over the place with knives is retarded, they will just get gunned down; but if the knife is used right, like what i listed above, then it really helps. One thing about the knife award...if idiots are just running around with knives trying to get it, they never will, right? They will just get gunned down unless they use the knife professionally. I think the award is possibly to teach people how to use the knife well. neutral

Like i said...if knives are used WELL, then they are far from being useless.

I know, is only been mentioned a hundred times, but we're talking about using it exclusively to get the badge.

Actually it isn't...The FS melee weapons do less damage, but have a longer reach. they take 2-3 hits to kill.
