Re: Exiting Capital Ships

I would think there'll be a dedicated "troop transport" for each side.

It's easy enough to implement where you can enter the vehicle and exit it at a docking hatch.

Re: Exiting Capital Ships

Didnt we mention that already? Wasn't the docking hatch idea rejected because it is a part of the ship?
Atm my best idea for getting out of the ship would be an escape pod. Then theres the trick of getting back in...for getting back in couldnt it just fly beside/on top of [insert static here]? O_o

Re: Exiting Capital Ships

Canadiens isn't talking about Capitol ships. He is talking about shuttles and such for landing inside of ships or stations.

Re: Exiting Capital Ships

Oh. Well this was mainly about capital ships...shuttles was a whole different thread (if you wanna bring it back...)

Re: Exiting Capital Ships

But since capitol ships aren't going to be exit able the shuttles will have to do. The small capitol ships won't be boarding the bigger ones with hatches and such.  You can't make it actually work with reentering the ships THROUGH an escape pod because the pod itself is a vehicle.

Re: Exiting Capital Ships

Exactly.

Capships, you jump in, you stick it out - you can't exit.

For transporting shock troops to other stationary space outposts and space stations, I think each side will have a dedicated troop transport.  Now, such transport (DX-9 is a very practical one for this role) might have coding to keep it level to the main plane of combat, as to make landing it / docking it easier.

EDIT:  Yeah I read your original post.  You won't be using capships or fighters to get onto these space stations, I don't think.  You'll either spawn on the station on the defensive team, or you can spawn in a hanger and board a small assault transport (enterable/exitable) on the assaulting team.

Re: Exiting Capital Ships

Wouldn't the fighter work? I can imagine many reasons that the cap ships wouldn't work, (uh...too big, no explanation, no way of reentry) but fighters are small, normal vehicle size, so they should be able to work fine. The main reason i brought up capital ships is because i dont want to have to suicide every time that i want to go from a capital ship to a station, etc.
