Would much prefer getting your capital ship (Lancer, Corvetee, etc) into position near the target and using escape pods to get to the actual target and you being able to spawn on the lancer (not walking in it).   You just go to position 9/0 and either hit E or click to launch yourself.   Then their is the objective of getting down and finishing the map, and of defending your spawn point, the cap ship.

I like the sound of that, and maybe some form of a new hope style boarding where there is an actual connection between the ships.

Re: Exiting Capital Ships

i doubt that is able to be done. How about if one of the other teams capitol ship is inside the large static ships hanger then their troops can spawn there. But if it gets destroyed then they cannot spawn inside the hanger. It would have to be a different hanger to the one housing the fighters to allow your team to be able to destroy it. Also there could be guns inside the hanger which can be used to destroy it.

That could be done, with a CP placed inside of the hanger with a long capture time. Which then a capitol ship could cruise into sit inside the radius to capture and a spawn set would be created for the attacking team. Could be very interesting.

I would really love to see a capitol ship flooded with boarding craft to create a spearhead for destroying the main defenses and then see a smaller cap ship come into position for the main take over. It would be pretty intense.

But why would escape pods, keyword: ESCAPE, be used for boarding capitol ships? This isn't 2142 titan mode. Escape pods can only hold a few people. That's ridiculous,  boarding craft were used for a reason, they hold lots of troops, and they have extra armor.  There weakness is that they are more vulnerable to enemy fighters.

It would be a bit like an Omaha beach map where the Americans attacked from life boats instead of Higgins boats, wouldn't it tongue ?

Re: Exiting Capital Ships

I was saying more for when you are attacking a space station where no-one spawns on and you have to either destroy or capture objectives on said nutral space station.   The offence side and the Defence side would both bring over Capital ships and drop-pod/escape-pod onto the space station.

Re: Exiting Capital Ships

can we make it so transport craft cannot take off without 2+ people. This may make problems with few people on a server though.

Also will bombers/fighters have to destroy parts of the static ship to remove the shield from a hanger.

Re: Exiting Capital Ships

Regardlessly of who attacks who, escape pods should not be used as troop transports. It does work (we know that from That Other Mod and probably Vanilla, though I never played it), but it shouldn't be done for the simple reason that they are, as Ty said, escape pods, not assault pods; that they don't hold many people; that they're sluggish as Heck; that they're poorly armoured and shielded compared to troop transports; and that it'd feel, again, as silly as attacking Omaha beach using orange inflatable life rafts.

Troop transports actually can be launched from cap ships, I believe, if you made it so that one is spawned when the ship's captain hits the Countermeasure key or something (producing a troop transport below the ship instead of a flare).
