Re: Exiting Capital Ships

They also attacked Ohama with Paratroopers and disposable gliders wink

I think of the Escape/Assault pods as parasutes for space.   They also travel at a decent speed, see Episode 4 when they launch off they get away from the ship quite fast.  They just are not very manuverable.    Position your cap ship directly above, or close to, the landing platform for the station and drop down.   Very similar to the APC's, air and land, in 2142.   You could even have both methods if ya like.   The pods would be if you want to position your cap ship above the target, transports for if you want to keep the cap ship back and somewhere safe(er) and make a more stealthy aproach.

However, I would still much prefer Space Trooper method ^_^

Troop transports actually can be launched from cap ships, I believe, if you made it so that one is spawned when the ship's captain hits the Countermeasure key or something (producing a troop transport below the ship instead of a flare).

Thats quite interesting. Maybe 4 spaces in the capitol ship and people spawned into them. when the capitol ship launched it they go into it. Or the capitol ship spawns it and then people go into them.

I would probably prefer troop transports to come from a static capitol ship though.

No, no, no, I was talking about the transport appearing in space and people spawning into it. I don't think there's a way to leave a vehicle and appear in another. But then I remembered that the Titan can launch pods, so you could probably use th esame code for it to launch transports. And then I remembered that transports are too big to be launched from hangars anyhow.

Meh.

Re: Exiting Capital Ships

The only way I can see this working is the way it was done in battlefront. Now before you grab the pitchforks and torches think about it.

A: Battlefront style surely it wouldnt be too difficult to implement.
B: All these pods and boarding craft launchers, I imagine they would require some coding and would probably be laggy.

Could also improve the battlefront style by putting the hangers in the correct locations and making it so the shields on the hanger must be damaged to allow acess.

For people that have not played battlefront please explain the battlefront style.

Re: Exiting Capital Ships

Battlefront style has two capitol ships paralell to each other each having a hanger containing fighters bombers and one troop transport. The objective is to take out the enemy ship by causing enough external damage with bombers anf fighters or docking with the enemy ship by flying into the enemy hanger. When you dock with the hanger your transport ship acts like a spawn beacon and you must fight your way into the controll room where there are various different ship systems to attack.

I would propose changing the the locations of the hangers since in battlefront there on the side of the star destroyers, making it so that you cant dock while the shields are up, expanding the ship interiors and removing the ability to dock using fighters.

Re: Exiting Capital Ships

Imo, you should be able to get out of fighters, but ONLY when they are landed. You do see people using fighters to get around and land in ships, etc, but it really wouldn't help to jump out in mid-space because, duh, you don't have a space suit, and you would just run out of air and die. Would it be possible to make it impossible to get out of a fighter unless you are landed? >.<
