If you are having Vista issues while running First Strike:

Because of UAC, running BF2142 (FSed or not) normally will not work properly. This is because of the Punkbuster scanning that requires admin access.

Right click on the BF2142 shortcut
Click "Run as Administrator"
To always run 2142 as adminsitrator, right click the shortcut again
Click "Properties"
Click the "Compatibility" tab
Near the bottom, check "Run this program as Administrator"

that fixes the issues i take it?
but its kinda weird seeing as the scans are done with PnkBstrA.exe and B. dont you have to give them permissions also?

btw if you using ventrilo and its nolonger working after this fix: set it to admin also.

The main 2142 EXE starts up those two files so if you give 2142 admin permission anything it runs has the same.

Best tip of all is switch UAC off. Its a pain in the arse. I run Vista and have no problems whatsoever

Most problems with Vista and games are solved by click "Run as Admin" or setting it to a certain compatibility mode.
Vista isn't really as bad as some people make it out to be;)

Tip: setting 2142 to compatibility mode you get the "insert CD bug" where even tho your 2142 disc is in the drive its not detected. I like Vista a lot, its getting better as it gets older
