Re: Shuttles

Delta-class JV-7 escort shuttle?

(Edit) - Thought about it and did a forum search, discovered it was already mentioned.  I'll keep this post on in an attempt to get back on topic.

I liked the ATR-6 in TIE Fighter, but it's a little ugly.  It would take a lot of work and tweaking to make it look good in the 2142 engine.  I doubt it will ever make it into the mod though.

o_o

Ugly? No offense, but this is a war, not a beauty contest. A lot of stuff used in wars is ugly...the Yuzhan Vong for example, weren't exactly careful about how nice their freaky organic weapons and technology looked...

As for the escort shuttle, i like that, it seems like a pretty cool vehicle to use, but the only problem is, how would you balance it with the imperials? Lambda vs. Improved Lambda, it doesn't exactly seem like a fair fight, especially when one was intentionally made to be an improved version of the lambda design.

Curses, foiled again!

Re: Shuttles

Yea but this is also a mod team, so why would they make a model that they don't like? hehe.

The fact is there are plenty of ships to choose from, the devs already decided on one for now.

Re: Shuttles

What I meant when I called the ATR-6 "ugly" was that it doesn't really look Star Warsy enough to fit well in the mod.  It would take a lot of modification to make it work.  A lot of the EU models were crap that game developers didn't put a lot of thought or time into trying to make them fit in the Star Wars universe (almost all of the EU vehicles in EAW for instance).  Most of the EU ships in the X-Wing series fit pretty well, but some didn't, and the ATR-6 is one that didn't (a few too many fins if you ask me).

I love the Delta Class Escort Shuttle, and at some point I would like to find a way to implement it, but as was mentioned above, balancing it would be a chore.  We shall see.

Also, if you want to see the vehicle we decided to go with, give me a shout on IRC sometime.

Re: Shuttles

As rebels love to modify their ships, the shuttle could be better in some areas, but it could tend to malfunction, have numerous weak points, etc.  That's what those scum get for their jury rigging engineering (Pre-Hoth Suri talking).

(Edit) - Oh yeah, are you going to implement the Star Wing?
