Re: Bacta Vials

Take a look at a bf2 Inf-Only Server...
Most People are jumping around as Medic, spam nades and medpacks.

They don't need no taktik, because they have a unlimited supplies of Medpacks.

Giving every class a Medkit promotes the same behaviour - bunnyhopping assaults, spamming nades and using Bacta if needed...
Thanks to DICE the 2142 Medpacks works different than the BF2 counterpart. You must stand by a medpack, not only run over it.
So it's sensible to drop the medpack at a good place with cover and defend this position.
(In FS you can make this positions even stonger by building up a shield and an gun enplacement)

Giving each class a medpack maybee sensible if you introduce a Bleeding System like in Project Reality / AiX / Forgotten Hope or Battlegroup Frontlines.

But a bleeding system (slowly dropping health after a hit) switches the whole Feeling of the Fights - Instead of "running around and shoot, get shoot, take cover, shoot back" it will be a "run around, get shoot, run away, hide, lick your wounds"...

And frankly speaking - a bleeding system is a very simple "reality damage system". A shoot may cause a wound that makes your arm or your leg useless.
Forcing you to drop the gun an use the pistol ( even in the wrong hand ) or slow down your movement. This effects are more serious and common than bleeding to death...

25-50 hit points is a minor injury now? So if you suffer from two minor injuries you're dead? 'Minor injury' in FS in my eyes is something like 1-5 hit points lost - a sprained ankle, broken finger or concussion, if even that. Sure, we could add a medpack that healed 1-5 points of damage, but frankly I don't really see the point.

Either way, I don't see any positive sides of this that aren't offset by the bad sides.

Good sides:
- Useful if you're pretty much the only person on your team (which is not FS is designed for. FS doesn't do gameplay geared for 2v2 skirmishes). This could be far easier addressed by placing more medical droids around the maps.
- ?

Bad sides:
- Makes medic less useful, thus detracting from teamwork.
- Makes lonewolfing easier, further detracting from teamwork.
- Makes killing an enemy harder, making the mod less tactical and more about taking chances (such as charging an enemy firebase) because you don't get as easily killed. FS already has short spawn times, spawn points at all control points, instantly respawning craft in space maps, etc., and as such isn't good at punishing death, and as such the gameplay isn't nearly as tactical as I'd like it to be. Making it even less tactical, therefore, doesn't appeal to me.

Heh, stop describing me...

Wait...  Is there going to be anything similar to vanilla's supply drops eventually?  If so, I will back down from my stand on bacta vials.

*Too add to statement's factuality, an extra comment was inserted.

(Edit) Woo, 100th post!  What better way to celebrate than to do this damn term paper...

Actually, a bleeding system sounds like a good idea.  Whenever I've played a game with a bleeding system, the realism made it pretty kickass.  Usually I wouldn't allow myself to fall victim to the bleeding anyways, but the enemy tended to succomb.  But being unable to fight due to losing arm abilities kind of ruins the last stand that we all so love to make.  Slower movement, I'm sort of split on.

Re: Bacta Vials

Restricting movement and weapons can't really be done in the engine... Blurry screens and HP loss can though.
