Topic: Command Center? In Bf2? Mother of hamsters!

2. Battlefield 2 uses a commander and squad system. Will it also be included in the mod or are you planning to realise something similar or even totally different to it?
Commanders and squads have definitely added a lot of team-based strategy to the game.  We'd definitely like to leverage the squad concept to keep the game fun, but we haven't yet decided how to implement the commander in the most interesting (and realistic!) way.

If you guys are pondering commander mode I have a couple suggestions. Is thier a way to remove the commander screen from the commander and make it accessable only through a special commander only terminal in the main base? I've noticed in Bf2 no one really bats an eyelash when they lose they're main base (the tv station in that penisula map). Well if thats the only place the commander could command, well then they would. They're could aslo be some other cool security terminals to protect the center, like wall mounted cameras, remote turrets, sliding trap doors with poison gas....:)

Hmmmm, this would be interesting! I know what you're talking about, when no one cares that the enemy took the flag that has your Artillery, UAV, and Scan. This would definitly fix that problem. Soldnder: Secret Wars did this, the Commander had a little computer.

If the artillery, radar and controlvehicle could only be repaired by engineers, instead of being able to do it, just by dropping a supply crate on it. It would also make the defending of the main base more important. Also the spec-ops missions would be more worth it, if you are able to damage the enemy communicatons and operations, for a longer amount of time. It´s a bit boring to see the radar back, just right after you took it out. I like the idea of enhancing the value of  tactical & strategic gameplay. I´m sure it´s an area that has many possibilities, for implementing very original ideas to the game.

yeah, we need destruction, what about damage to the map?

AT-AT fires at echo base and u see an impact on the base, or holes made in the terrain?

footsteps of soldiers, heat from vehicles on the ice, ....

that sounds a little beyond the engine. But none of the less I have an idea for that (:D). I think I suggested something similar for battle damage on capital ships. Picture a map like hoth, with alot open ground, and trenches and stuff. Well you guys have undoubtedly seen the destructable fences in bf2 right? Well when the map is made, the mapper could included shell holes sparadically placed around the map. Then a destructable object could be created that looks like the top of the ground. It would only be destroyable by really big blasts, like ATAT fire, or artillery. So once the thing gets destroyed (it could have a neat little destruction animation of dirt flying everywhere) the shell hole is openly visable. Viola, semi destructable terrian.
Also similar things could be done to city areas, like coroscant, but in walls, and bridges.

Interesting. That sounds it would be hard to do. Think of all of the holes.
