Topic: Great Fleet Battle?
What Battle of Taloraan needs is a lot of people. Throw in the new coordinating commander to give orders, have a period of time where things are planned out before-hand, and organise seperate squads for every individual ship and fighter squadron, with the squad leader commanding the vessel or the squadron, and we could have some VERY epic space battles.
To that end, I think we should have a planned gathering with as MANY people as we can muster on one server. We could follow the Community Game evening format, but have it be on a VERY powerful/reliable US east coast server (enough to run with at least 48 people on it, but 64 players would obviously be best), and with the only map being Battle of Taloraan, either 32-size or 64-size (I'd like 64 size).
I know that not everyone likes space maps, but those people that don't like taking the helm or the controls can man a gun in what has potential to be an amazing few battles. Plus, if the server could run Battlerecorder and not lag, we could have some of the media-savvy developers make a promo video for First Strike using source material from the battles. Anyone else agree that this would be a great time?
P.S. Depending on how much pre-battle planning goes into this whole deal and how many people show up, maybe it'd be a cool idea to have a three-five minute cease-fire period at the beginning of the round so that each team can organize/orient their fleet and fighters to their admiral's liking before going after each other.
An illustration for the squadding format (commander and squad leaders would be determined prior to the match, people then join in their wanted squads depending on what they want to do, if they choose to drop in):
Rancor Team or Wampa Team:
Admiral (Crews on one of the heavy ships):
NEBF ONE or CRCK ONE: 2 members + Admiral
NEBF TWO or CRCK TWO: 3 members
CRV ONE or LCR ONE: 3 members
CRV TWO or LCR TWO: 3 members
TRANSP or FREGHT (all members crew both ships): 4 members
AWING or TIE F: 4-6 members
XWING or TIE I: 4 members
BWING or TIE B: 4-6 members
