Re: #1 best and worst thing about 1.2

Yeah I realy like Battle of Yavin

I´m not a good pilot of course for that you need a good internet conection and a constant ping of 300 isn´t very good for flying big_smile

But I think the Death Star Trench is too small. In the film could 3 X-Wing´s fly near each other in one lane. Here it´s just space for one X-Wing and the trench is not deep enough.
The turbolasers in the Trench are as high as the trench is deep and so you need to fly out of the trench to evade a crash.

Re: #1 best and worst thing about 1.2

The trench could be a bit bigger, but its not as small as you seem to make it out, I can easily fly an Xwing or Ywing around those turrets. And I think the highest turret in there only goes about 2/3 to 3/4 of the way to the top.

turrets can be evaded in the trench.
Suriander, I must find you on a server and give you a challenge.
Lamda needs people to pay attention to whats been said on the forums.
Badges are fun but not the real point of the game.
Kill stealing is all part of the fun. I love swooping in between an X-Wing and its chasing TF and stealing the kill. It's not that I'm stealing the kill, just helping defeat the enemy faster, if I can turn in to get that killer shot I will. Saying that, pay attention in dogfights, it doesnt need three of you choking up airspace to kill on fighter. break off and come back in for a better shot.

The trench is made to the exact specification in one starwars book or another if memory serves me, it is a FOV (field of view) problem, it looks alot smaller than it is, you can fly 3 ties in formation down it, ther was a screeny of it somewhere...

Re: #1 best and worst thing about 1.2

Best: The Star Wars feel.  Captured far better than any game released recently by LA

Worst: Ability for infantry to counter armour...  Especially prevelent on Mos Espa.  As I said in another thread, damage needs to be altered

Favourite map:  YAVIN YAVIN YAVIN....  Love that map so much.  Definately lives up to all the hype you guys gave it smile

Re: #1 best and worst thing about 1.2

Best: The teamplay mantra seems to be contagious. You only run into isolated troops about half the time, but when your group runs into another enemy group, it gets really intense; and as other groups get involved as both teams summon support, it results in protracted and epic firefights.

Worst: Technical problems (Yavin with a lot of players, but also some weapon effects not showing up (the Turbolaser towers on the outpost in E.S.T.), as well as gunners that are vulnerable to fire when they shouldn't be, like on the Lambda). Also, the T1-B missiles doing absurd splash damage to infantry, resulting in both TK's and crazy infantry death all around.

Favorite Map, Vehicle, Weapon: Yavin would be my favorite were it not for the technical problems, instead my vote goes to Tatooine Bestine. With a lot of players, firefights for control points can get really intense and concentrated, yet can still be resolved with some strategy and teamwork. Without either, the Rebels cannot punch through the Imperial defense, but if the Imperials are broken through, the Imps won't be able to keep up with the Rebel advance without coordination.

And about the infantry vs. armor "problems": as was said in another thread, a one-man army can't challenge a vehicle, especially one backed by infantry. On the other hand, four men with rocket launchers, backed by a medic, an officer, and even a support guy with a DEMP gun, will be hazardous to any armored advance. I can tell you, it's very demoralizing to be disabled, then watch your health plummet from 100 to 35 with a single barrage of torpedoes, when, an instant before, your crew was in the clear.
