The issue with the imperial base- with its defences of rockcrete walls and turbolasers is that its actually harder to defend than a treehouse made of wood and twigs with no spawn point.
In fact- the landing platform is an elevated position from which rebels can snipe with relative impunity.
When you walk up the ramp to the firing step you find that there are trees that block your line of sight, as well as that corridor leading out.
If I were an Imperial officer I would:
1: Shoot the architect.
2: Have down those damn trees blasted to atoms for about 50 metres minimum from the base & platform
3: Place a spawn point on the ATAT platform which can now be used by snipers to shoot in directions other than the base.
4: get support personel to fix the turbolifts to the upper control room of the outpost. Who is manning those screens? Ladders would do in a pinch- we need to keep those rebels off the roof!
5: deploy ewebs on the roof- now that they're not being sniped from our own platform.
6: place the turbolaser controls in the upper control room- if thats not possible I'd at least put a door on the control booth- like the probe droid control area.
7: deploy a shield mechanism, like the one we had on Ryloth? Not really- that would suck.
