The fact of the matter is that 2142 remains the highest evolution of the battlefeild engine, taking away some things but giving many others. In the case of FS, we should just try to figure out ways to emulate or recreate the mechanics used successfully in 1942 and BFV. I mean import a Tango from BFV, and "fly" the thing thru space at various speeds to see what happens.
If the Tango showed similar attributes compared to being used in BFV, then we have discovered a way.
One of my theories is that 2142 titans and other large ships with that many polygons create the problems of movement, whereas the BFV TAngo or a 1942 warship has relatively light construction and provides a lighter load. That would lead to maybe making a corvette with reduced polygons and more of a BFV scaled geometry. You could still use really pretty skin maps to make the exterior look more complex.
