The standard 2142 server install names the folder that you have titled "2142 Mods and Match Server" normally "Battlefield 2142 Server"  the contents of the "Battlefield 2142 Server" you extracted therefore need to go in that folder, and overwrite anything already in there.

Ultimately, this will be less hassle for server admins in the long run.  We will be releasing regular updates.  I don't think you want to be updating your server once or twice a week.

Ok I've tried that and when I run the update.exe it still gives me the same error and will not update...

Extracted all files that were in the battlefield 2142 server folder to my main 2142 mods & matches folder. Ran update.exe got same error

I've tried everything I can think of to get this updater to work. He's right in that is DOES rename the bf2142ded.exe file because your instructions say to overwrite files when extracting to your bf2142 server.

This updater is a great idea but as many have said earlier I doubt GSP's and others are going to be able to make use of it. There are already a very limited amount of FS servers out there and we used to have quite a popular one (DrunkenMasters) however now since the updater does not work unfortunately I will no longer be able to host the server if the updater is the only option.

Im not new to installing servers or mods, and this program frankly doesn't work. I too would rather update with normal zip (rar) files even if I have to do it once a week. I don't know what im doing wrong here cause I've followed the instructions and then tried many other options I thought might work. I still get the same damn error that it can't dl any updates.

Please make a 1.4 server version that works!!!

Renegade got our linux server and the CC working, i'd suggest you ask him at www.roguetribe.com. The guys a wiz with servers etc smile

Ok, Renegade gave me a few suggestions.
It boiled down to changing the firststrike.ply with one of his creation (as the original doesn't like linux) then altering the config.xml.

Problem Is I don't have a config xml- probably something to do with the fact my server is limited to 16 players- if I had a config then I could change that. Just sticking in a config telling it to run the updater will not work because at the moment the server launcher doodads don't reference one.

My server seems designed to only allow me to stick stuff in thru FTP, then launch through 2142cc.
I'll likely have to wait for the updater to have 2142cc compatibility with linux.

Am I right?
