Topic: Replacement for the Rebel Armed Landspeeder
I'm in the mindset that it needs a replacement. No one really uses it, and those that do don't seem to understand how to. While I'm sure a few people will come in and mention that, the fact remains; few people use it as anything more than a quick transport from point A to point B. That's all that really matters, you can rationalize how it isn't used any way you'd like to, but it doesn't change it after the fact.
Also, the only time I remember seeing the speeder is in Episode 1, so it doesn't really make canonical sense that it's now so widely spread in the Alliance.

Now, I think the rebels are due for something that more appropriately parrelels that Imperial AT-ST. I've noticed a tendency of developers here to choose vehicles and weaponry often only encountered in the Expanded Universe, and I truly love that about this game.
The trouble I think, is that the Rebellion really doesn't use any walkers (besides small amounts of captured units), and speeders and walkers are two very different platforms, and it's hard to make two units perform similarly for the sake of game balance.
However, I think the Ultra-Light Assault Vehicle comes pretty close.

As you'll find, it's armed with 2 forward facing laser cannons, a concussive grenade launcher, and a rear-facing medium blaster cannon.
This parallels the AT-ST's 1 medium/light blaster cannon, concussive grenade launcher, and 2 medium blaster cannons fairly well.
To balance its higher speed and wider perception (with the rear-facing turret) when compared to the AT-ST, you could make it weaker in armor and protection, thereby making it similiar to the old combat landspeeder in terms of functionality. The difference being, because of the lack of open-air cockpit, this may be used more for actual combat and thus will correct the problem encountered in the current landspeeder.
It also personifies the Rebel tendency to prefer hit-and-run tactics and ambushes, rather than head-on assaults (which the AT-ST is in turn, more accustomed to).
Well, I've ran my mouth long enough.
