Topic: The turtle
The turtle, aka "shield dome hopping", combines the Shield Hopping tactic and the Shield Dome. In essence, what you do is shield hop (that is, advance by placing shields in front of another), but with shield domes instead of single shields. Advancing under a turtle takes time, coordination, not to mention FOUR squad members with the HWS class but, if done right, offers superb protection to troops.
1. Form 'turtle squad'.
2. Create a shield dome by deploying two shields in opposite directions. It's tricky to get a shield dome 100% right - remember that it's better to get it too confined, but completely sealed, than to leave gaps in the shields.
3. Create a new shield dome by placing two PSGs within the existing shield dome, but closer to your destination.
4. Pick up the first shield dome and place it within the new one, again closer to your destination.
5. Keep this up until you've gotten to where you want to go.
Two people at a time will be busy placing shields, but the rest can defend the turtle against close quarter attacks. Additional allied infantry can advance under the turtle with the squad making it.
