Re: Getting the Community Popular Again

Sounds like a job for Twigs and me.

I write some half-funny, half-serious lines and feed them into the strings.csv file, and Twigs does his stormie/Imperial officer voice and there you have it.

Not that the messages need voices, as most of our players can read, but whatever tongue .

I think the messages should have voices, to maintain the battlefield series theme of doing that. It'll give the game a polish and 2142/BF2 players will instantly know whats going on.

Oh an the immersive starwars-ness of voices telling you what to do.

Just as a side note, I have advertised this mod across about eight different forums I visit regularily. About twelve people have said they will give it a try. The biggest NO reason I found was that people dont have 2142, after that was I can never get mods to work.

Did you tell them that installing FS was just running the installer which does everything for them?  Thats worked for me in the past.

To nitpick, every mod has an auto-installer, so it's always a matter of patching the host game for then to install the mod.

The special thing with the launcher is that it auto-updates, downloading subsequent updates for you, not that it installs the mod wink .

No, thats not true.  A large number of times in the past I've had to navigate to where files are meant to be placed and moving them there myself.  Large mods such as FS usually have auto installers, but there are plenty of smaller ones which require human input...

Re: Getting the Community Popular Again

The problem is that most people see the word mod with some very negative connotations such as: A whole boat load of effort to make it work, it doesnt work, it broke my  vanilla and this mod is half assed. I think the new media team should put some effort into showing people how easy it is to make this mod work.
