Re: AT-ATs deploying troops
To make it look good, it would have to be kind of slow. I mean, think about how slow they walk!
If the pilot had to stop and "cop a squat" everytime someone spawned in it, the thing would never take more than 3 steps at a time. Besides, it'd probably look like it was laying little white egg-men (to put it kindly). A different option would probably be in order.
Besides, using the 2142 walker crouch would only bend the legs enough to take it about one-third of the way down -- that's still way too high to easily survive the fall. Yes, Luke survived, but remember that he was mostly out of the battle after that. No need for the Empire to deploy a bunch of troopers if they're going to lay in the snow and limp to the front lines (if not break their necks).

Today's spelling/grammar tip: There = a (sometimes conceptual) place. "There is my car." or "There is such a thing as magic." // Their = posessive. "Their meat is full of worms." // They're = contraction of <they are>. "They're crazy!" // "They're trying to put their shoes up there."
