Well, If not parachutes, we could use grapple hooks. When we jump off, and use the grapple hook, it hooks on to the nearest ledge (ex. a building), thought would take alot of time, would it? I understand that Parachutes are in the expanded star-wars universe, though it would be useful to have something similar to it.. neutral

If you code it, we'll do it.

Alternatively: Take the stairs or ladders instead of jumping 10ft.

Re: Parachutes

Wait, what do you mean by coding? like, 0100100210000?

Or not? I really don't want to see a bunch of grapple hooks all over. The maps weren't designed that way.

Re: Parachutes

Try reading what he said and think "Would that be possible?" and "Does he have the ability to code it if it is?".  Such a peice of code, if done, would have to be included just because it'd be such a magnificant peice of art.

Jetpacks. Fun, sure,

OMG!! Twiggy said Jetpacks are fun.  Holy freaking crap!

Much of the tech in First Strike is not seen in the movies but is taken from what is known as the expanded universe, ir stories and games set in the same time frame that have expanded on the original movies.

With Jetpacks for all regular soldiers (in one or two dedicated maps), the developers of First Strike actually have an opportunity to CONTRIBUTE to the expanded universe of Star Wars, instead of just being a SLAVE to what other people have written about the expanded universe.

but even in Star Wars they would have had a limited flight time so if they went back in I'd be looking at reducing the amount of flight time and removing it's ability to 'refuel' by itself.

Why limit the flight time to that severe degree?  In the 1960s a turbojet pack using kerosene powered jet engines was built and it could fly for 20 minutes.

The main reason for removal though is that it proved to be detrimental to gameplay. You all spent more time teamkilling each other to get the jetpack or camping the area it was found in that it proved to be better for everyone if we just removed it.

WRONG! That was the original version of the jetpack kit.  In the second version, anybody could walk up to a vehicle, a tank or speederbike, and access the jetpack kit that way. tongue

I have suggested in the past that one map, the 64p version of Null Station, have jetpacks readily available for all soldiers, not every map in First Strike.

I hate jetpacks, but I love you, Duke.
