after that i've download the full installer on moddb

when has moved the sever?

Download the update direct from here:

Place the file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\mods

Run the updater, it should detect a patch is required, then see you already have the build then begin to apply it.

and the updater/launcher works fine

im having a similar issue only that its the launcher itself, it just refuses to run, 3 installs with fresh download/install of newest versions of everything

im able to run the mod by launching the game and community/custom but not the launcher

Go to program files/electronic artx/battlefield 2142/mods/firststrike.

Scroll down the list, you should see an icon called Firststrike_launcher-0.0.8.1 or something, clicking this will reinstall the launcher, but FIRST, delete the old version. The old launcher should be located in program files/first strike. There is a dedicated uninstaller which will remove only the launcher not your whole mod.

So, uninstall the launcher, then reinstall it from the locations above. Remember to run the installation as admin (if on win 7 or vista) and ensure your firewall has an exception to let the application dial out in order to fetch the updates.

Are you on Vista/7? Make sure you're running the launcher as Administrator, and turn off UAC.

Make sure you have the file msvcp71.dll in your launcher folder. You could also try to copy it to your windows\system32 folder.

If none of this fixes your problem, please download THIS utility. Extract the files anywhere to your computer, and run WMIDiag.vbs. It might take several minutes for the diagnose to finish, and afterward it will open a log file. Paste the contents of the log file in here.
